GPS Comes To BVGC!
GPS is a navigation system that uses 24 orbiting satellites to accurately track the position of the buggys at BVGC.
We are the only club in Herefordshire to have GPS receivers in our buggy fleet enabling accurate graphical hole and green overviews, exact distancing, pro tips, electronic scoring, a live tournament leaderborard, weather and safety messaging and two way communication directly to the golfer via a video display unit installed on each buggy.
How far is it to the bunker, the dog leg, the lake, the front of the green, the centre of the green and the back of the green? These areas have been mapped onto the course providing 'decision making' distances for the golfer. How accruate is it? It is accurate to 2.5 yards. Therefore your decision on club selection is made much easier. In addition to course information, the system provides two-way communication with the pro shop enabling emergency assistance and weather warnings etc and many other features.
Electronic scoring/live tournament leaderboard feature automatically adds the scores for each hole and displays current running score. Golfers can view the leaderboard to see who the leaders are and what hole the are on. Is it legal? Yes, the R&A and the USGA have sanctioned the use of the GPS system.
